the history
Built in 1924, Stowe Manor is a storied estate rich in local heritage. Originally constructed for prominent textile magnate S.P. Stowe, the manor quickly became a symbol of elegance and grandeur in Belmont, North Carolina. Its architectural beauty, from the beamed ceilings to the ornate fireplaces, has drawn admiration for nearly a century. Passed down through generations, Stowe Manor has stood as a witness to the town's evolving history, hosting countless social events and becoming a beloved landmark in the community.
the restoration
In December of 2021, Stowe Manor was sold and acquired by David and Wendy Hostetler, marking the beginning of an extensive and thoughtful renovation. Over the course of two years, the manor was meticulously restored to its former glory, blending modern conveniences with the timeless elegance of the past. From the restoration of original woodwork and fireplaces to the addition of a custom kitchen, elevator and luxury pool, every detail was carefully considered. The landscape was also transformed, with the addition of over 1,000 plants and trees to refresh the grounds and gardens. The Hostetler’s personally managed and oversaw the renovation on a daily basis and actively participated in every design and renovation decision. The result is a revitalized estate that honors its historic charm while being fully equipped for modern living.

Stowe Manor offers a picturesque setting for capturing your bridal portraits. We are thrilled to invite you to join us for this momentous occasion. Our bridal portrait package includes photo opportunities inside the Manor as well as the beautiful grounds. A sophisticated bridal changing room is at your disposal, adorned with exquisite 19th-century furnishings. From the sweeping “embracing arms” staircase to the beautiful porches and grounds, there are a plethora of beautiful settings to choose from both inside and outside.
